Focus on sustainability

We are committed to making AG2023 environmentally and socially sustainable and creating business and job opportunities for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people. Consumption, conference materials and gifts will be kept to a minimum. The conference program and abstracts will be available on the AG2023 app and on the website.

Our main site, ICC Sydney, was certified Gold by the internationally recognized LEED© green building program in 2017 and is also EarthCheck Silver certified. Food and wine are sourced locally and uneaten food is donated to charitable partners to feed those in need. ICC recycling stations allow pre-sorting of waste, off-site recycling and processing of organic waste producing fertilizers and green energy.

You can help reduce the carbon footprint the AG2023 ……

Fly with Qantas and buy airline carbon offsets — Qantas is proud to be the official partner of ICOMOS GA2023. Through their Fly Carbon Neutral programme, Qantas customers are able to support accredited projects that offset their carbon footprint and have a positive impact on our planet. Tick the box for Fly Carbon Neutral when booking your flight and when you use cash to fly carbon neutral, Qantas will match your dollar contributions. Registered delegates and GA2023 travel partners can also access discounted Qantas fares on eligible flights through the GA2023 booking portal by entering the password GA2023.

Reusable water bottles and water stations will be provided, but please bring your own reusable cups for hot drinks.

After GA2023, EarthCheck , our ICOMOS GA2023 Sustainability Patron, will prepare a post-energy audit report. Unavoidable consumption will be compensated by the purchase of carbon offsets from social and environmental companies.
