Indigenous Australians Grants
Indigenous Australian Grant Applications closed on 12 May 2023.
Australia ICOMOS has a small pool of money available for the allocation of up to 10 grants to assist Indigenous Australians from outside NSW to attend the 2023 General Assembly and Scientific Symposium in Sydney which runs from the 31st August to the 9th September (GA2023).
Heritage NSW is offering a limited number of complimentary registrations to Aboriginal people from NSW who wish to attend the GA2023 as a delegate. The complimentary registration covers the full registration and Gala Dinner. It does not cover the costs of extra site tours, or assistance for travel, accommodation or other expenses associated with getting to the event).
These funds include contributions from: Artefact Heritage, GJM Purcell, Navin Officer Heritage Consultants and Australia ICOMOS.
ICOMOS GA2023 will be the largest gathering of cultural heritage specialists from Australia and around the world that has ever gathered in Australia. An exciting array of cultural events have been arranged in conjunction with the formal meetings and a five-day Scientific Symposium. If you are involved in cultural heritage work or have cultural heritage responsibilities and are interested in participating in GA2023 we invite you to contact Susan McIntyre-Tamwoy (Indigenous grant subcommittee convenor) via phone 0425215012 or via Email smcintyre-tamwoy@nohc.com.au providing in no more than one page, your:
- contact details (name, address, email and phone number)
- The location from which you would travel to and from GA2023
- your cultural affiliation if any e.g., Western Aranda, Kuku Yalanji etc
- your current employer and position if any, and any cultural heritage responsibilities
- a short statement on why you are interested in attending and what you hope to gain from the experience.
- If you have had a paper accepted for the Scientific Symposium, please let us know.
Important dates: applications must be submitted by the 12th May, 2023, and will be considered and applicants contacted by the 19th May,2023. Registrations will need to be completed by the 31st of May and all successful grantees will receive a free ticket to the Gala Dinner on registration.
The grants will cover your ICOMOS GA2023 registration (at the early bird rate) with the remainder to be used for travel and accommodation costs.
